Why am I sick?
I am sick because I am wrong. We get sick to show us something is wrong. And what is wrong is that I am not right; which means, I am not living life correctly - that being: according to my soul; my soul that God created.
If I persist in living untrue to myself, going against my self and my soul - going against God, then it’s right that I get sick. I might not be sick all the time, however at some point my deeply repressed feelings will push up making me physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually ill. And I can choose to deny them, or I can embrace them - looking to express them as best I can whilst longing to know the truth of why I’m feeling them.
We get sick so we can help ourselves move into such hidden feelings, which ordinarily aren’t up within us during our ‘healthy’ life. Our soul makes us sick, so we can use our own bad feelings to help ourselves. To make ourselves truly well. However if we persist in doing all we can to get rid of our illness, blocking out and suppressing further such bad feelings, then we’re setting ourselves up for an even worse time in the future.
To be told you are wrong, and that your whole life is wrong, is not something you’ll want to hear. However if you were right, then why are you sick? Something is going on within you that’s making you sick, so is not right; so you can start right there, focusing on and accepting those bad feelings and wanting to know the hidden reasons why you are sick.
So when your illness, no matter what it is, debilitates you chronically and to the point of you not being able to go on, then it’s helping you see the truth that you are, the truth that you’ve been refusing to see all your life about yourself - the truth of how it was for you as a young child; the truth of not being allowed to go on, stopped by your parents, family, the society you grew up in; all of which as you got older, you learnt how to manipulate to get what you wanted, to allow yourself to go on, but all going against yourself. And now you’re being forced to stop, your body, your mental or emotional state is staying, no, no more, you can’t keep being false and untrue, you must stop and start paying attention to the truth of yourself - the truth of how you’re really feeling. Which your illness is helping you feel.
And of course, no one wants to feel these terrible feelings. Yet you are feeling them, you can’t run away anymore. You might seek help, trying to shut then out and make them go away as your get ‘better’, however you’re then denying yourself the valuable experience of working with your pain, exploring it to understand the truth of why you’ve got it. Of, what really did happen to you during your early childhood that is now manifesting in you as your illness?
The disease is good, and the more we do to ‘cure’ it, the worse it gets. Which is all part of the wrongness we live in, trying to kill and stop it, which is really just trying to kill and stop ourselves more. And if we were right and true, we’d not get sick, for there’d be no reason for it, nothing for us to learn from it, no truth to find out about ourselves through our bad feelings.
Our disease is showing us loud and clear how wrong we are. Yet we don’t want to accept it, we fight it, which is only fighting ourselves. And we say we are good and the disease are bad, yet it’s the other way round. The disease is not bad, it is good helping us feel our bad feelings, and showing us that we’re the bad one by living untrue to ourselves - untrue to our feelings.
We can heal ourselves by properly attending to all the feelings our illness brings up within us. And ideally, by attending to all our bad feelings before we get sick, they will help us uncover the truth we are meant to see through them, helping us understand why we might get sick, and then even preventing the need for it.
We are to uncover the whole truth of ourselves, the truth of our lives, the truth of all our relationships, through our feelings. That is what life is really meant to be about. And so our illnesses are simply another way for us to do this. They bring up many of the bad feelings we’re doing all we can to stop ourselves feel, and if we can learn to love these bad feelings instead of hating them, all as we long for and want to see the deeper truths about ourselves and our relationships, then we’ll be living in harmony with them, so more in harmony with the rhythms of our soul.
I am sick because I am denying feelings. My bad feelings are good. I am having them as they are a part of myself that I am refusing to acknowledge. And the more I can accept them, express them, bring them out emoting them with all the feeling I feel, all as I long to know the truth they are to show me, then I’m no longer going against and fighting against myself, and are doing the opposite - accepting and loving myself. And surely through my self-love I will eventually fully heal all of myself.
Love yourself through your feelings.
